REST IN PEACE

ELIZABETH TAYLOR DIED TODAY.
And I must say I am rather sad. The world lost a great beauty. I remember the first time I saw Cleopatra. My mouth was open the ENTIRE movie. She was just So elegant, and so pretty. I wanted to be her. (I still do) Looking at the pictures of her it makes me want to be more of a lady. To stand straighter, talk softer, move more gracefully. I think that is going to be my resolution. In honor of Miss Liz lets all be more lady-like. Lets cut the screaming and the hollering. The neck snapping and the hair swinging. I want to be one of those women who can tell you off without a curse or a raised voice. Modern day example: Michelle Obama. She looks like one of those women. Lets do it girls! Lets do it for Liz, lets do it for us!

Grammy Highlights and Lowlights

So last night was the grammy's. and I must say I was disappointed. For the most part the fashion was boring. (come on usher, you looked like you were going to the mall.) Bieber looked adorbz in his White tux. And of course Rihanna wore some eye popping monstrosity that had heads turning. I was most disappointed in Lady Gaga, who not only looked a whole hot mess, but gave a very lack luster performance. I expected so much more from her after her MTV awards antics and stellar performances. She half redeemed herself with the insane half suit jacket half leotard ensemble paired with thigh high boots, and this hat I LOVED!!!! but still GAGA you have failed me.
Katy Perry brought along Grandma who was killing it with her bedazzled cane, and valentino dress and bolero. Katy was very valentine's themed with her hearts and glitter "firework" performance and the cupid wings she rocked on the red carpet. Nicki Minaj had Leopard hair...yea. Solidifying all the reasons why I love her. Snooki and drake had a interesting flirtatious moment on the carpet. Then she asked him if he "smushed" Rihanna. His face = priceless. (p.s Drizzy. CUT YOUR HAIR!!, you had the freshest cut in the game. PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME REGRET LOVING YOU LIKE I DO.)

I have no words for the following people. Ceelo (Tucan Sam) Green, Janelle ( I only have 1 suit) Monae, and Dr. (It took me 30 minutes to peel this leather jacket on) Dre. I will say that Janelle is starting to grow on me. She still irks me though.

Biggest upset by far had to be that the Biebs walked away empty handed. There was a resounding "WHO????" that echoed throughout numerous households when Esparanza Spalding walked away with the coveted "Best New Artist" award.
My FAVORITE PERFORMANCES go to (In this order) 1. Joleen (Dolly P. tribute) performed by Nora Jones, John Mayer and Keith Urban. 2. Bruno Mars- Grenade ( HE HAS GOT TO RELEASE THAT VERSION!!) 3. Justin Bieber & Jayden Smith (ITS JUST SO MUCH ADORABLE-NESS!!!) 4. Christina A, J-Hud, Martina McBride, and Yolanda Adams Aretha Franklin Tribute. Christina gives me goose bumps, even if she doesn't know the words to the national anthem....and finally, 4. Rihanna & Eminem ( while it was great, Im just really OVER that song.)

My "REALLY?!?!" moment came from Lady Antebellum's "Tribute" to Teddy Pendergrass. A tribute which included the chorus to "If you don't know me by now." .....then ended. I like Lady Antebellum, "Need you know" was my jam. But singing 1 line of a 1 line chorus does NOT constitute as a tribute!! so.. REALLY LADY ANTEBELLUM?!?! REALLY!!?!?!?. And thats all I have to say about that. (Forrest Gump voice)
All in all, this years Grammy's was a #FAIL.

The Emmy's is up next. I can't say I have high hopes. I guess MTV is running the award show game these days..... #sigh.

Bow Tie Me Up

This is the coolest thing I have seen in a while. I modern twist on something classic. Executed with precision and an obvious passion. I'm talking about The Art of EMJ. I was introduced to this duo of charisma during my time at the NOLCHA fashion lounge yesterday. I was blown away by how much I LOVED this creation. Leather bow ties. Doesn't really sound like the almost awesome thing ever. But it is. I found myself wondering why I hadn't seen these in GQ. They're AMAZING! I want to buy one for every man I know. I'm even thinking about getting one for myself and turning it into a bracelet :). I respect the comeback of the bow tie. Especially if the Guys of EMJ are the ones ushering the comeback. The founder and creator Eric M Jenkins is this polished, chic, urban powerhouse of confidence. (Think Common meets Fonsworth Bentley with a light coating of Kanye) His Bio is impressive, I encourage you to read. The Brand representative that accompanied him, Vito C. Williams has equally as much presence. I feel a bow tie revolution coming on.
Follow @TheArtOfEmj & check his blog. Its pretty fantastic. http://theartofemj.wordpress.com/

MAKING LIVES SWEETER WORLDWIDE

Born and raised in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, Megan “Cupcake Meg” Schmidt always had dreams of one day contributing to the world in a big way." That is the way the Bio portion of CupcakeMeg.com begins. I was first introduced to this fundraising initiative via twitter through mutual friends of Meg and my own that attended Hampton U in VA. So in my exploration of what CupcakeMeg really was I found myself admiring this girl who is the same age as me, who's main goal in life is to help those in need. Specifically children in developing countries. What first drew me to the site were these adorable T-shirts my friends had begun wearing. At first I went to the site because I really wanted a T-shirt. But after I read what it was all about I had a renewed sense of pride in my generation. That there are still good people in the world who care about people other than themselves. I am waiting for the "SHOP" section of the website to become up and running so I can buy myself a Tee. But if you live in New York, the next time you are in Brooklyn, stop by Swagger360 (887 Fulton Street btwn Vanderbilt and Clinton Avenues) and cop yourself a Tee for a good cause.I say thats not to shabby for a girl from brooklyn who hustled cupcakes from her dorm...not to shabby at all. I'll be sure to post me in my Tee when I get it. :)

Bryanna Loves the Kids!!!

So a friend of mine had an idea. An idea to create his own Children's cartoon centered around education by means of music. Thus, "The Skunk and Munk show was born." I love it because it's unique, fresh, cool, and downright genius. I realize the close relationship that music and fashion have always had, and i realize that the next generation are the ones who are going to be dressing my children, and making the music that my son or daughter listens to. So with that being said I invite you to read the following excerpt from Morrismegamedia.com regarding the Skunk and Munk Show.

"The Skunk and Munk Show" is a multi-media musical sitcom geared towards entertaining while educating todays youth. Utilizing music as the driving force of the show, mediums such as animation and comic book art provide the visual connection to the audio. Set in an imaginary place called "Soundtown" (based on Willingboro New Jersey) there lives two best friends, Skunk and Munk. These two young kids run the website www.skunkandmunktv.com, where they broadcast "The Skunk and Munk Show" from their clubhouse showing the latest home-jam videos, interviewing local artist, and discussing current events.

Soundtown is a special place filled with many different, colorful and talented characters. Everything in Soundtown,in one way or another, has a connection to music. Not to long ago, everyone kept their ears glued too Station Soundtown to hear "real music" played by the legendary Oldschool until the station was bought out by the diabolical Dr.Doughnut. Ever since then, the airwaves have been clogged with "Villian Music", forcing Skunk and Munk to take a stand-thus spawning "The Skunk and Munk Show".

Intrigued yet?? You should be. If you want to learn more about skunk and munk click this link to morrismegamedia.com And be sure to witness the birth of "Skunk and Monk" on 3-20-11
Now check out the trailer.....

FASHION OF PHILLY

The great thing about the Internet is that you literally have all the information in the world at your fingertips. I google everything from Toni (my iPhone). I don't even know how I would go about functioning if I couldn't know what was going on right now just by clicking a few icons. It's fabulous and sad all at the same time.
Where I live in New jersey, Our style, the way we talk, the things we do, is highly influenced by the near by city of Philadelphia. To keep me up on the latest events and trends one of my favorite sites, which just happens to be written by a friend of mine (S/o Brittiny Stewart!) is www.fashionofphilly.com
With a fresh take on trends and always up on the current sales, whether it be small private boutiques, or large retail giant,s this site will keep you up on it all! You Will dig Brittiny's "Cool chick down the block" vibe while getting schooled on whats good (and maybe not so good) on the streets of Philly and the surrounding areas.
It's definitely a Bookmarker for the comp and a valued tool for fashion forward visitors to the fine city of Brotherly Love!
